Evan Williams, Twitter CEO, on Well-Orchestrated Accidents

“I remember staying up all night one night at my first company and looking in couch cushions the next morning for some change to buy coffee.”

Since before I graduated college I have been absolutely set on joining a startup and building something from the ground up.  This is where I see my career, my life, going.

I got to NYC 8 months ago thanks to hard work on an established brand (Sports Illustrated). Now that I’m here and my involvement with SI has dissipated, I hope to dedicate myself to a great brand that is not yet completely established.

There is something about Evan Williams’ story, especially that quote above, that resonates with me.  I want to have that experience.  I want to invest enough into a company that when the going gets tough my stomach drops and I scour the house for loose change.
