I think the NYT is spot on— I was expecting some actual, functional additional features in the Kindle Magnum. I think the only way these will sell in droves is to school systems/higher-ed.

Once they have full color screens and cost $40 via some sort of subsidy they’ll have mass market appeal.

Couldn’t agree more with mopostal’s analysis. If this was $40 I would by it in a heartbeat. It’s only a matter of time.
